When Can Kittens Get Vaccinated

Kittens can start their vaccinations from nine weeks old and will need a second set of injections usually 2 4 weeks after their initial set to complete their course.

Before your kitten can go outside freely. Then your cat will have an annual booster jab every 12 months to keep them protected for life.

If you decide to adopt a kitten you will need to decide when to spay or neuter it. However to avoid over vaccination most veterinarians will recommend starting the vaccine at 8 weeks of age followed by boosters at 12 weeks and 16 weeks old. Kittens must be over 12 weeks old at the time of the second vaccination. Kittens should be kept away from other cats and stay indoors for seven days after the second injection to ensure maximum protection.

Until your kitten is fully vaccinated and neutered you should keep him or her inside. After this kittens and cats usually need booster vaccinations every twelve months. Kittens are vaccinated once every three to four weeks until they reach 16 weeks of age or older. Make sure they are identifiable.

A kitten has its first injection at 9 weeks and then a second 3 4 weeks later. Rabies is the other core kitten vaccination. The first injection can be given from nine weeks of age with the second three to four weeks after the first injection. Kittens should have their first set of vaccinations at nine weeks old and at three months old they should receive the second set to boost their immune system.
